What to Wear

Coachella is upon us, and while this might not mean much to our readers who aren’t decamping for the grassy lawns of Indio's Empire Polo Fields, we bet that many of you have some sort of spring/summer music festival plans.

Whether you’re planning on worshiping Prince this weekend, catching Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings at Bonnaroo, or watching the Gnarls Barkley boys do their thing at Lollapalooza, you need outfits that will keep you cool without forsaking style.

We’ve put together two possibilities that will work for most of your traditional music festivals. Of course, those Glastonbury-attending gals who read WhoWhatWearDaily.com know that it's likely they’re in for another year of glorious mud, and as such, they should look into Hunters and waterproof rain jackets instead!

1. Ray-Ban Outdoorsman Aviator Sunglasses ($129) Underneath everything, we’re pretty practical gals, which is why we’re so enamored with these sunglasses. The hook-like frames hook behind your ears, anchoring the shades to your head so you don’t lose them while engaging in some mid-afternoon dance session. Genius!

2. Opening Ceremony Henley One-Piece ($437) A romper/playsuit is the perfect piece for an all-day outdoor festival because it’s the perfect mixture of fashion-forward and fuss-free. The above one-piece is by Opening Ceremony and is a stunning gray hammered silk. If you fear you’d thrash it to shreds, try the slightly sturdier Sparkle & Fade Brushed Onesie ($32) in midnight.

3. DV by Dolce Vita Carnival 19 Sandals ($65) The likelihood of getting some tan lines is high, so you’ll want to skip those really elaborate gladiators when getting ready for a music fest. Something simple, likes these mahogany leather slingbacks won’t leave you regretting your choice of footwear.

4. M.A.C Nail Lacquer ($10) If you’ve been thinking about trying something other than your usual Ballet Slippers or Sugar Daddy pale pinks, now is the time to do it! Play with a new shade like the above hot pink shade (it’s called Steamy for those inquiring minds) or some other trendy color that you don’t normally wear.

5. Diane von Furstenberg Hori Blouse ($198)The perfect top for an outdoor music festival is something lightweight and airy, like this sublime peapod green blouse from Diane von Furstenberg. Like the romper, this blouse is breathable silk and has a drawstring waist and cuffs.

6. Hollister County Line Shorts ($34.50) If you don’t have a super worn in pair of jean shorts already—which you should—then immediately pick up some like these lightweight and light wash cutoffs from Hollister. We also would like to tactfully suggest trying on a size or two bigger than you normally wear, because skintight shorts are a loathsome look (and uncomfortable too).

7. Mia Enchantress Sandals ($60) These sandals are elegant and pleasantly affordable too! The slim straps add interest to the sleek shape and the braid detailing is a nice touch. The sandals are available in a soft pewter color, as shown above, or a pale metallic gold, which is also attractive.

8. Forever 21 Beaded Glam Bangles ($9 each) There’s something glamorous and earthy about these simple beaded bangles. While an arm of monochromatic bracelets wouldn’t look bad, we like the look of contrasting bangles better.
