At 24, Jessica Biel is taking steps out of the perspiration-drenched worlds of action and horror movies and into the powdered milieu of A-list fare, first with a role in last year's Elizabethtown and now in this summer's The Illusionist. Biel emerged onto the small screen at age 14 as a farm-fresh preacher's daughter on the WB's 7th Heaven. Then she made one of those Freddie Prinze Jr. pictures (Summer Catch), acted in a 'shroom-alicious Roger Avary film (The Rules of Attraction), and hit her stride in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Next, newly equipped with a six-pack, she was the action chick in Blade: Trinity and Stealth. But now … ahhh … the characters she plays have last names, and she finds herself among Oscar winners and nominees. It's fair to say that Jessica Biel est arrivĂ©e. —JIM WINDOLF
